A leading industrial company reached out to Mentoro with the goal of enhancing its competitive advantage by placing sustainability at the core of its operations. We started by assessing the company’s value chain and resource management activities from a sustainability perspective to establish the current state. Then, we implemented various initiatives aimed at integrating business and sustainability, including adding sustainability criteria to customer and supplier segmentation, strengthening customer and supplier value propositions from social and environmental perspectives, developing new products with high environmental contributions, enhancing economic, environmental, and social impacts by applying a sustainability lens to operational activities, defining sustainability performance indicators and ensuring business units’ ownership, and identifying a purpose that mobilizes and motivates all stakeholders. Additionally, we developed and implemented an internal and external communication strategy to help the company better and more effectively convey its efforts to stakeholders. As a result of these activities, the company achieved increased employee ownership of sustainability, gained new customers, successfully offered differentiated products and values to existing customers, and reduced costs through more sustainable operations.
